#1. Instant New Bank Account

Aadhar letter provided by UIDAI is now acceptable by banks as a valid proof to open the bank account. It relieves a headache to produce the bunch of documents to the banks for opening the account.

#2. Aadhar Based Direct Benefit Transfer (LPG Subsidy):  

LPG cylinder subsidy amount is directly credited in the Aadhar linked bank account after the LPG consumer number is linked. The difference between market price and the subsidised rate is credited which is the subsidy amount.  This DBTL scheme is named as PAHAL.

To get this benefit you need to visit your area’s distributor and get Aadhar number linked to the 17 digit LPG consumer number. The absence of Aadhar card can deprive the consumer of availing subsidy benefits on LPG cylinders.

#3. Digital Locker:

The government of India has launched digital locker (DigiLocker) system for everyone for storing all personal document on the government’s server. And the sign-up process for DigiLocker requires the person to link his/her 12 digit Aadhar card number.

#4. Passport in 10 days:

This benefit of Aadhar card will relieve you the most! If you have an Aadhaar card, you can get the passport in just 10 days. Under this format, police verification will be done at a later date as opposed to the previous rule requiring police verification which used to be time-consuming.

Also under the new government’s rule, if you need a passport, Aadhaar number is compulsory.

#5. Monthly Pension:

All the pensioners from selected states will now have to register their Aadhar card number to their respective department in order to receive the monthly pension.

This move was initiated as there have been fraudulent incidents as beneficiaries requesting pension were found to be fake.

#6. Scholarship:

Students who receive the scholarship from the government can get this money only if bank account which is the name of the student is linked with their Aadhar number. However, this is mandatory only for the students from selected Indian states.

#7. Provident Fund:

Similar to pension, provident fund money will be given to the account holder who’ve registered their Aadhar number with employee provident fund organization (EPFO).

#8. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA):

Wages under this scheme will also be credited directly to the bank account of the workers linked with Aadhar card number.

Andhra Pradesh government recently announced that Aadhar card will be necessary to buy any new vehicle in the state. It is also important for getting a driving license.

#10. Mandatory to Fill Engineering Exams:

Aadhar card is mandatory to fill Government Engineers Vacancy. Applicants should enter their Aadhar number in the registration form. In case if the applicants don’t have Aadhar number they can fill their Enrollment Number(EID) in the form.

#11. Use Aadhar For New SIM Card:

The government of India is mulling over a proposal to make Aadhar card necessary for purchasing new SIM cards. If this happens then you cannot buy a new SIM card without having Aadhar card.
