How to Link your Aadhaar Number with Saraswat Bank Account

RBI in its press release dated 21st October 2017 has clarified that in applicable cases linkage of aadhar number to bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 published in the Official Gazette on June 1, 2017.

Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) maintenance of records rules, 2005 act has been amended to incorporate the regulations prescribed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI):-

According to PMLA's Rule every new bank account shall require Aadhaar authentication of the customers who are entitled to obtain Aadhaar number.

Every bank account in the country is to be verified through Aadhaar authentication before 31st December 2017, failing which the account will become inoperative.

Exception for linkage of Aadhaar number has been granted to the following "Individual Customer":

a) Non-residents who have stayed for less than 180 days in India

b) Small account i.e. Janhit Savings account
