How does Aadhar Authentication Help?

Launched in 2009, Aadhaar has grown to become the world’s largest biometric database and over 1.1 billion people have been enrolled to the system. Verifying a user’s identity is now faster and easier because of the Aadhar.

Skype Lite, now leverages Aadhar as its ‘fundamental authentication system’. Aadhar authentication is offered by Skype Lite which will allow either of the callers to request for other’s verification.
This feature could come in handy in scenarios such as online job interview where either of the parties may find it necessary to have some sort of verification method. The company assured that it deletes all the Aadhaar data once the call has been disconnected.
by Satya Nadella at the event…
“We’re very excited about what we are doing with Skype, and the India Stack (the infrastructure of Aadhaar that allows private companies to interact with the database).”

How does the Aadhar Verification Process work in Skype Lite?

The verification process will work in the following manner:

  • A user can ask from within the app while a call is underway to check for the verification of the other person.
  • Once a user requests this verification, the other person will be prompted to enter their 12-digit unique Aadhaar number along with the one-time password which they will receive on their phone.
  • Once the OTP is entered, the other person will be able to identity of a person, thus helping with easy verification.

According to Microsoft, this verification feature could prove to be convenient in online job interviews where either of the parties might feel the need for some sort of verification procedure.

What else makes Skype Lite special in India?

Furthermore, Microsoft has made the Skype Lite application available on Android from 22nd February, 2017. The app will be a one-step solution for all sorts of communication. Whether it is messaging, calling, sharing, etc. Similar to the earlier version of Google Hangouts, the text messages and IM chats will appear in the Skype Lite app.2017

Bots have also been introduced to the messaging application along with automated services such as MSN News. The bots will predict what the user is likely to type and will fetch information from the users. Moreover, the Skype Lite app will use machine learning to de-clutter spam messages.
