For getting a duplicate Aadhar Card, simple procedure of downloading online copy of Aadhar (also known as e-Aadhar) needs to be followed and e-Aadhar which also has your photo can be easily printed to get a printed Aadhar Card that can be carried along easily. HOW TO DOWNLOAD AADHAR ONLINE / DUPLICATE AADHAR CARD?

Information necessary to download Aadhar Card online is:

  • Enrollment ID or  Aadhar No.
  • Full name
  • Mobile number
  • Pincode

For maintaining the security of Aadhar information, a One Time Password (OTP) will be generated and sent to the Registered Mobile Number, which needs to be entered on the screen to download the Aadhar in PDF format. In order to open the PDF file, Pin Code as registered with Aadhar needs to be entered to open the file.

Online generated copy of Aadhar is equally valid as Aadhar Card received through post which is also evident from the fact that lower part of the E-Aadhar is similar to the one received through post.

How to Print a Good Quality Duplicate Aadhar Card?

Now to get a printed version of Aadhar Card, online generated copy can be printed on good quality paper preferably 80 GSM or other photo paper available easily in market at less than Rs. 5 per page. Cut marks present on the printout can be used carefully to cut the printed sheet using scissors.

Now fold the Card from middle and a card similar to the one provided by UIDAI can be prepared. Now for added protection one can get the card laminated to make the card last longer. The entire process involves a maximum expenditure of thirty rupees (and that too at maximum).

One may also prefer to get the card printed on polyvinyl chloride card from local Photo Lab to make the last for decades, however poly vinyl chloride card are costly and printing of one such card costs around hundred rupees.

A brief – About e-Aadhar

After successful launch of Aadhar project throughout the country, need was felt to introduce system of generating and downloading copies of Aadhar online which could be easily accessed and used. Additionally, as the number of enrollments increased manifold, there was a considerable increase in cases of loss of card or damage of card. In order to facilitate speedy and timely processing and issuance of duplicate Aadhar Card, Resident Portal of Aadhar was launched which could be easily used by citizens to get duplicate Aadhar Card issued immediately without any hassles. That’s where online Aadhar Card (also known as e-Aadhar) comes in to picture. E-Aadhar is an online copy of the Aadhar generated using the resident portal of the UIDAI.

E-Aadhar is similar to conventional printed Aadhar card and the same can be used in place of Aadhar Card which shall be deemed equivalent to the card received through post. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) which is implementing the Aadhar project has clarified in numerous statements that both E-Aadhar and cut-away portion of Aadhar letter, are to be considered as a valid proof of identity and this has been notified by the Government through various notifications also.  For the curious minds, a copy of such notification is also appended below.
