HOW TO CHANGE NAME IN AADHAR CARD – 6 EASY STEPS

An online service portal has been provided by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) through which you can change name in Aadhar card. However, you can only make use of this online service if you have your mobile number registered with UIDAI.

In case you don’t have your mobile number registered, it is not possible to carry out the name changing process.

Also, you can change only a certain number of details in your Aadhar card via the online portal. These details include:
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Mobile Number – This is only to Update / Change the number and NOT to add a new one.
In case you wish to change any other detail in your Aadhar, you will have to visit your nearest Aadhar enrolment/update centre.

SIX SIMPLE STEPS TO CHANGE NAME IN AADHAR CARD

STEP1:

The first step towards changing your name is to login to the official website of Aadhar Card. The website is uidai.gov.in; you can directly visit the website by clicking here.

Once you visit the website, click on the tab named “Update Your Aadhaar Data”.


STEP 2:

Clicking on this tab will take you to another webpage. Again…. Click on the tab ‘Update Aadhar Data‘. Clicking on the tab will take you to another webpage.


STEP 3:

On this page, various update guidelines will be given. Have a good look at these instructions and click on the link below for updating your name.


STEP 4:

Once you are taken to the next webpage, you will need to submit your Aadhar Number.

After this is done, Click on the “Send OTP” option and an OTP will reach your registered mobile number.

Once you receive the OTP – enter the same alongwith the security text displayed in the image and Submit.

STEP 5:

Now you will see a page with the options to Update the Aadhar Details – select the details you want to update from the list.

In this case ofcourse – you should select the “Name” Option.

STEP 6:

Once you are done entering the Name and all other details, next step is to upload a scanned colored copy of your documents.

After uploading, you will be required to select your BPO service provider and after doing so, click on the submit button.

Note: Aadhar Card change isn’t immediate; it will take 2-3 weeks for your Aadhar card to be updated.

Once two-three weeks have passed, you can print your updated Aadhar card from the online portal for Aadhar.
