However in case of LPG subsidies it might change. Getting Continued LPG Subsidy might not be continued for long, if you do not possess an Aadhar card. And if you don’t already have an Aadhar Card, you should quickly apply for one, as Aadhar Card Mandatory could soon be a reality!

IS AADHAR CARD MANDATORY?

Well, if you want to continue getting the subsidy on your LPG, you MUST have the 12 digit Aadhar number and link your Aadhar number and details with your LPG connection. Not officially a rule yet, it is somehow obvious that Aadhar Card is Mandatory atleast for select things.

Initiated by the UPA government and continued by the Modi Government; Direct Balance Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme, whereby the subsidy for the LPG would be directly transferred to one’s Aadhar Enabled Bank Account. If one does not have Aadhar Card, he/she is not eligible for the LPG subsidy. Hence, it is now a kind of the Aadhar Card Mandatory reign, especially if you seek to avail LPG subsidy.

A consumer will first have to link his/her Aadhar Number with their bank account and thereafter submit a photocopy of the same to their gas agency.

AADHAR CARD MANDATORY FOR LPG SUBSIDY – HOW MIGHT IT AFFECT YOU?

Previously the process was pretty simple; one had to only submit their bank account number to their gas dealer to avail the subsidy. Now under the new circumstances, the criterion stands changed. The consumer now has to do rounds of the bank. And yet this scheme of LPG subsidy might get withdrawn soon, as was discussed at a recent meeting by the gas agencies.

Some consumers had applied for the LPG Subsidy via the previous method of directly linking by giving their bank account numbers to their gas agencies.
