Aadhar Card for Passport – How to get Passport faster with Aadhar Card?

Here is a simple step-by-step process to get your Passport using Aadhar Card.

Aadhar is an important document which is linked with the citizens basic crucial information like biometric prints, Iris scan, Address, Date of birth and other details. Aadhar cards can be used for a variety of services like LPG connection, opening a bank account etc. Now it can also be used for getting passport much faster than before.

AADHAR CARD FOR PASSPORT – HOW IS IT USEFUL?

Earlier getting a passport was a herculean task as it required a lot of documents, procedures and needless to say unnecessary time. But govt. has simplified the whole process by introducing a new Fast track procedure.

Through the Fast track service, citizens can get a passport as a first time applicant under a week’s time if they submit the three documents namely – Copies of Aadhar card, Electoral photo identity card and PAN card. They will also need an affidavit from the police clarifying that there is no Criminal Record against the person.

Thus Aadhar card for Passport has become very crucial.

FOLLOWING ARE THE STEPS TO APPLY FOR THE PASSPORT

  • Fill in the passport application found over here.
  • Attach the copies of Aadhar card
  • Attach the Electoral Photo Identity Card
  • Attach the copy of PAN card
  • Along with the above documents, submit an affidavit in the format of Annexure-I (Declaration of citizenship, family details and no criminal records)

Aadhar card for passport has thus become indispensable. Along with making the whole process much easier it adds to the security by linking the Aadhar database with Passport.

Until now the whole process used to take around a month or even more. Along with it the inconvenience of security check and efforts to get to the Passport Seva Kendra added to the difficulty. The new Fast track service is welcomed as a user friendly process and will liberalize the whole process without compromising with the security.

The police verification will take place after the passport is issued. The process depends on the online Aadhar verification of the applicant and the approval of the granting officer. Also if the records are found to be faulty, the passport can always be revoked after issuance. If required, the EPIC and the PAN card can also be validated if needed.

The officials also point out that there are plenty of ways to detect forgeries and frauds. Moreover the Aadhar database gives a real time data verification of the applicant.

So using technology and the above listed documents, the government intends to cut down on the time involved in processing the applications for Passport. This is indeed a step in the right direction and will lead to reduced waiting times for the applicants and less paper work for the passport issuing authorities.

We can only hope this gets implemented well and more and more government procedures are streamlined for quicker approvals and executions.
