There are a number of unofficial mobile applications for Aadhar card download and update; however you must note that these applications might cause threats to your security. There is no official Aadhar card app as of now and most of the applications that you may find free to download are unreliable.
Infact some of these applications are a risk to your security. With an onset of such applications, the question is how to perform Aadhar functions through an app?
It is true that simply downloading an app is much easier rather than logging on to the Aadhar portal each time you have a query but there are several problems in using third party applications. But now, thanks to the Modi government, soon this issue will be resolved with UMANG…. let’s find out more.
Is UMANG The Perfect Alternative for an Aadhar Card App?
The Modi government is working on developing a mobile app that will serve to be the master app as it will be having all the government services integrated into it. This app is being called ‘UMANG’ which stands for Unified Mobile App for New-age Governance.
This is not just an alternative for the Aadhar card app but is also the place for accessing various government services as around 200 services by the government will be integrated in this app. The services are such as that of income tax, passport services, land records, women safety etc.
In order to carry forward the idea of digital India, the Modi government is putting its best foot forward to start an era of e- governance through mobile phones. As mentioned earlier, with the launch of this app there is no need to download any third party Aadhar card app; UMANG will thus serve as the perfect alternative to the Aadhar card app.
So how long will one have to wait until UMANG is rolled out?
According to sources, a 207 paged proposal document of the app has been uploaded by the Modi government on the website of The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeiTY) in order to invite potential agencies for the development and maintenance of the app. According to this document, the first phase of UMANG must be rolled out in under three years.
UMANG Will be Safe and Beneficial
What if anything goes wrong? There is nothing to worry! As transaction details will be given so that the users can directly contact the authorities in case of any mishap. Moreover, live chat feature will be there for the users’ support. The app will be available in English as well as in regional languages.
One of the most exciting features of the app will surely be the option of sharing of digital certificates and documents to various government authorities through the app so that the need for visiting the departments separately is eliminated.
Hence UMANG will serve to be an alternative to the otherwise unsafe third party Aadhar card app that most of you might be using at the moment.
UMANG will be integrated with Aadhar card authentication and will be a safer and more reliable option for performing various tasks relating to the Aadhar. Large emphasis is being laid by the Modi government on enable more e-governance and we hope UMANG proves to be a one step solution for all government services.
