Aadhaar Card is NOT mandatory to write SSC Exam
Recently, the Central Government directed the School Education Departments to make Aadhaar card a mandatory for class 10 students appearing SSC examinations in March 2016. The notification released earlier said that the Department of Electronics and IT, Ministry of communication and IT- Government of India has essayed the Aadhaar details of all the school children in the age group of 5 to 17 years. For this the Department of School Education, Telangana State, had established 10 UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) Centers in each district especially for enrolling the School children so as to act fast as the center asked the school management to list out the students name along with their Aadhaar card number and to submit before December 2.
This move has put the school management under inconvenient situation as almost Six Lakh students would be writing exams out of which 1.5 Lakh students don’t have Aadhaar . This created a lot of worry among the Parents as well, as achieving this is not easy in a stipulated time and it drew flak from the school management who expressed that it was not possible to issue Aadhar card for such a massive number of students in very short period of time. Parents also expressed their plight stating that Supreme Court itself has ruled out that Aadhaar card is not a mandatory document.
Update from the State Education Department
In relief of this, the State Education Department of Telangana, through a notification issued on Monday stated that the compulsion on acquiring Aadhaar Card for appearing in SSC examinations is cancelled. This gave a huge relief for the Parents and the School Managements. The department also said that the earlier statement of compulsory Aadhar card for appearing in SSC examinations was given as per the directives of the Central Government.
Now there is no such compulsion of getting an Aadhaar card to appear in the SSC examinations.
